how to bounce back

Bouncing back into a healthy routine made easy!

Are you fretting about the holiday season and thinking all the Xmas goodies that are hard to resist, especially when your grandma is offering you with big eyes her double chocolate fudge Christmas cake to taste at 10pm on Christmas Eve?! Well you’re not alone! We all know how it feels to overindulge in some of our favourite foods when with friends and family, especially during holidays. If you’ve been consistent with your healthy lifestyle this year you can let the reins go a bit and grab a few treats for yourself.

Now once the holiday celebrations end and we’ve enjoyed the quality time with family and friends, we then realise it’s time to stop slipping and get back on track. It’s time to give push that motivation and drive in order to make those healthy choices again. However after a week of indulging this is easier said than done to bounce back and stay motivated and working towards your goal. It’s always best to take a steady pace back into your routines as going too fast and pushing too hard to quickly may result in you falling off the wagon quickly. So in order to bounce back during and after the holiday season we have the following tips that will help you stay or get back on track depending on when you decide to be good!

Drink Up

Remember that with travelling, increased activities, cocktails and the late nights during the Christmas festivities your body will be exhausted and dehydrated. Therefore it is important that you increase your water intake. For instance mature adults lose about 2.5-3 litres of water per day. This amount can increase depending on the activities and hot weather. Therefore it is recommended that the adequate daily intake of fluids for mature adults is between 2-2.5 Litres per day. Depending on the person some of you may need to increase or reduce your fluid intake.  Staying hydrated will help you bounce back as it will help reduce those cravings of sugary foods that we are sure you indulged in on the weekend. If you’re struggling drinking water, we recommend adding natural flavours such as cucumber, mint and lemon as these also help with hydrating, pH levels and detox as well as generally making the water taste a bit more exciting!

An increase in water intake will help reduce bloating and help flush out the toxins carried in processed foods and sugary treats.  Alternatively taking our Fat Burner Platinum Labs Optiburn in the morning will help reduce bloating from water intake and help reduce stubborn water weight around your mid section.

Go Raw

This is something we know many people are cautious about: trying raw foods. However, incorporating some raw meals into your day after the festivities will help you feel more vibrant and recharged. Eating raw foods will help with your digestion and allow your body access to all those nutrients you may have been excluding during the Christmas break! Including raw foods in each meal is a simple as having a fresh smoothie in the morning and a fresh salad for lunch.

Restore your pH Levels

After the endless nights of partying and cocktails, it is important to restore your pH levels. Most foods and drinks are high in acidity and can cause acid reflux or other unpleasant side effects. Restoring your body’s pH after a highly acidic diet is as easy as increasing the amount of alkaline foods you eat, such as kale, asparagus and mangoes. Avoid foods such as blueberries, cranberries and walnuts. This will improve your energy levels and decrease bloating and inflammation.  You can also do this by enjoying a cup of lemon and water during meals and in the morning.

Do Cardio & Weights

After a few too many cupcakes and cocktails during the festivities, your body will have extra glycogen stored in the muscles. In order to burn through this stored fat you will need to increase your cardio and weights, in order to enhance full body routine and movement. We recommend taking a Fat burner in order to enhance the fat burning process whilst exercising. Consider combining your thermogenic fat burner (Oxyshred or Optiburn) with CLA tablets which encourages the cells in your body to source energy from hard-to-reach stored fat. CLA will also reduce the amount of fat your body stores, as long as combined with regular exercising. Combining a High Interval session into your regular workout routine will also increase your fat burning process as well as reduce stress levels, which in turn also reduces sugar cravings and emotional eating.

Rest & Help Digestion

As a starting point to bouncing back into your healthy routine, we recommend you recharge and relax with a good 30-minute walk after dinner for the next few days. This will also help you unwind before bed while enjoying a bit of much needed “you time” after a busy week or weekend. Walking after eating also helps your body digest, allowing you to sleep soundly and without that bloated feeling. Make sure to re-establish your sleeping routine by getting at least 7.5 hours of rest each night, as this will also help reset your system.

Throwing yourself back in too quickly can increase the risk of injury and also decrease your motivation and enjoyment.
